HDPE Geomembrane Price
Indicative UAE rates by thickness, what installation and testing add, and the seven lines to check before you compare two quotations.

What HDPE geomembrane costs in the UAE
Nobody can give a binding HDPE geomembrane price without knowing the thickness, the area and whether installation is included. What we can do is publish the ranges honestly, explain what moves a quote inside them, and let you sanity-check whatever numbers you are being shown.
The figures below are indicative market ranges for the UAE in 2026, in dirhams, for supply-only roll goods delivered within the country. They move with polymer prices, freight and order size, so treat them as a bracket rather than a quotation.
One thing worth stating plainly: a quote that is dramatically below this range is usually below it for a reason — thinner sheet than specified, recycled or off-spec resin, no certificates, or seam testing and documentation quietly left out of the scope.
Send the area, depth, slope angle, application and delivery emirate through the enquiry form. A written quotation with a roll schedule and material data sheet usually comes back the same working day.
Supply-only price ranges by thickness
| Thickness | Approx. AED / m² | Approx. AED / ft² | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.50 mm | 15 – 22 | 1.4 – 2.0 | Temporary works and short-life storage |
| 0.75 mm | 20 – 30 | 1.9 – 2.8 | The volume grade for farm and irrigation reservoirs |
| 1.00 mm | 26 – 38 | 2.4 – 3.5 | Long-life exposed water storage |
| 1.25 mm | 32 – 46 | 3.0 – 4.3 | Heavier duty water and effluent containment |
| 1.50 mm | 38 – 55 | 3.5 – 5.1 | Usual minimum for landfill and regulated containment |
| 2.00 mm | 50 – 72 | 4.6 – 6.7 | Heavy duty, steep slopes, plant trafficking |
| 2.50 – 3.00 mm | 62 – 95 | 5.8 – 8.8 | Severe chemical or mechanical exposure |
Indicative supply-only ranges for standard black smooth sheet, delivered within the UAE. Textured sheet typically carries a premium over smooth. Currency conversion at roughly 10.76 ft² per m².
What installation adds
Installation is priced separately because plenty of clients do not need it. When it is included, these are the components that make up the rate.
| Component | Approx. AED / m² | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Deployment and welding | 8 – 16 | Crew, plant, hot wedge and extrusion welding, trimming, anchor trench placement |
| Seam testing | 2 – 5 | Air pressure testing, vacuum box, trial welds, destructive samples |
| QA documentation | 1 – 3 | Panel as-built, weld logs, test records, repair register, certificates |
| Geotextile cushion (200 g/m²) | 6 – 12 | Supply and lay where the subgrade needs protection |
| Mobilisation | Lump sum | Fixed cost per mobilisation — proportionally heavy on small areas |
Mobilisation, trial welds, testing equipment and documentation are largely fixed costs. Spread over 400 m² they dominate the rate; spread over 40,000 m² they almost disappear. This is why a 500 m² pond can be double the per-square-metre rate of a large reservoir.
The six variables that move your price
1. Thickness
The largest single factor. Material cost scales almost linearly with thickness, so moving from 0.75 mm to 1.5 mm roughly doubles the sheet cost.
2. Total area
Larger orders buy better per square metre — both on material and on the fixed costs of installation. The steepest improvement is between a few hundred and a few thousand square metres.
3. Texture and surface
Textured sheet costs more than smooth. White-over-black costs more again. Both are worth it in the right application and wasted money in the wrong one.
4. Geometry
A rectangular reservoir with clean slopes is cheap to line. Irregular shapes, many corners, sumps and multiple pipe penetrations add welding hours that do not show up in the square metre count.
5. Scope of testing
Air pressure testing every seam and issuing a full QA file costs real money. It is also the difference between a liner you can prove and a liner you hope about.
6. Access and season
Remote sites, restricted gate hours and summer heat all reduce productive hours per day. A July installation in Al Dhafra is not the same programme as a January one in Dubai.
Reading a geomembrane quotation properly
If you are comparing quotes, check these seven lines before you compare the totals. In our experience they explain nearly every price gap.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Is the area plan area or developed area? | Developed area includes slopes and anchor trench and can be 15–40 % larger. A quote against plan area will need a variation later. |
| What thickness, exactly? | “Approximately 1 mm” is not a specification. Nominal thickness and minimum average thickness are different numbers. |
| Smooth or textured? | A textured quote against a smooth one is not a like-for-like comparison. |
| Are certificates included? | Mill certificates traceable to delivered roll numbers, not a generic brochure. |
| Is seam testing in scope? | Air pressure and vacuum testing of every seam, with a log. |
| Is geotextile included? | Often excluded then added as a variation once the subgrade is seen. |
| Are penetrations included? | Pipe boots and puddle flanges are skilled work and are frequently excluded. |
Ask every supplier to confirm those seven in writing. The cheapest quote often stops being the cheapest once they do.

Answers for specifiers & buyers
Frequently asked questions
What is the cost of geomembrane per square foot?
Roughly AED 1.4 to AED 8.8 per square foot for supply-only material, depending on thickness — that is about AED 15 to AED 95 per square metre. Installed rates add approximately AED 1 to AED 2 per square foot for welding, testing and documentation. Thickness and total area are the two variables that move it most.
How much does it cost to line a 1,000 m² pond?
As a rough order of magnitude, 1,000 m² of plan area becomes roughly 1,200–1,350 m² of sheet once slopes and anchor trench are included. In 0.75 mm supply-only that is broadly AED 24,000–40,000 of material; installed with testing and documentation, expect meaningfully more. A firm figure needs the depth, slope angle and subgrade condition.
Is thicker geomembrane always better value?
No — it is better value where the liner is exposed, trafficked, or protecting something whose loss would be expensive. For a covered pond with a clean sand subgrade and a short design life, paying for 2 mm sheet is money spent on capability you will never use.
Do prices include delivery across the UAE?
Quotations state delivery explicitly. Within the main Dubai–Sharjah–Abu Dhabi corridor freight is usually a modest component; remote sites in Al Dhafra, the east coast or the northern emirates carry more. It is always shown as its own line rather than buried in the rate.
Can you match a cheaper quotation?
Sometimes, and sometimes we will tell you the other quote is cheaper because it is for a different product. Send it over — if it is genuinely like for like we will sharpen ours, and if it is not we will point out precisely which line differs so you can make the comparison yourself.
