Lining work in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi covers the largest land area of any emirate, and the lining work reflects that — industrial containment in Mussafah and ICAD, agricultural reservoirs across Al Dhafra, and remote sites where access planning matters as much as the specification.

The industrial districts south of the city — Mussafah, ICAD I to III, and the Khalifa Industrial Zone — generate steady demand for secondary containment, wash bay lining and effluent pits, generally to a written specification with a full CQA package. Inland and west, the Al Dhafra region and the farms around Madinat Zayed and Liwa run on irrigation reservoirs where the practical constraints are distance, heat and subgrade quality.

Remote work needs planning rather than heroics: confirmed offloading plant, roll lengths matched to the equipment available, and a subgrade genuinely ready before a crew travels several hours to reach it.

Coverage in this area

Roll goods delivered and installation crews mobilised throughout the areas listed below. If your site is not named, it is almost certainly still covered — ask.

Typical Abu Dhabi projects

Industrial secondary containment

Tank farms, chemical stores and workshop wash bays across Mussafah and ICAD, typically 1.5–2.0 mm sheet with full seam testing and documentation.

Agricultural reservoirs in Al Dhafra

Large irrigation storage serving farms and forestry projects, usually 0.75–1.00 mm sheet with a cushion geotextile over gravelly subgrades.

Evaporation and effluent ponds

Industrial process water and treated effluent storage, where chemical resistance and long exposed service life drive the specification.

Landscape and forestry irrigation

Storage ponds for the emirate's extensive planted areas, generally exposed liner requiring a well-compounded UV-stable grade.

Practical notes for Abu Dhabi sites

Distance planning

Al Dhafra sites can be several hours from the coast. Deliveries and crew mobilisation are scheduled as full days, and the subgrade must be signed off before anyone travels.

Sabkha and groundwater

Coastal and low-lying sites can develop uplift pressure beneath a liner. Venting or pressure relief details need designing in from the start.

Wind

Open desert sites see strong afternoon wind. Continuous sandbag ballast along panel edges is not optional.

Documentation

Industrial and government-linked work in the emirate almost always requires a full QA file. Ours is issued as a single PDF pack at handover.

Answers for specifiers & buyers

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover Al Dhafra and the western region?

Yes, including Madinat Zayed, Liwa and Ruwais. Remote sites are planned as full-day mobilisations with the subgrade confirmed ready beforehand, since a wasted trip costs a day for everyone.

Can you supply liner for oilfield and industrial containment?

Yes. These jobs usually specify 1.5–2.0 mm sheet with full seam testing and a documented CQA package. Send the specification clauses and we will confirm compliance line by line before quoting.

Is groundwater a problem for lined ponds near the coast?

It can be. Where the water table is close to the base of the excavation, pressure can build under the liner and lift it. That is designed for with a venting layer or pressure relief detail — it has to be planned at the start, because retrofitting it means cutting the liner open.
