Liner supply into Dubai sites
Dubai's lining work splits into three very different markets, and they buy in three different ways. Knowing which one you are in usually tells you what to specify.
There is the industrial belt — Jebel Ali, Dubai Industrial City, DIP, Al Quoz — where liner goes into secondary containment bunds, wash bays and effluent pits, and where a consultant's specification and a QA file are non-negotiable. There is the agricultural belt around Al Qudra, Margham and the Al Ain road, where farm reservoirs are lined in 0.75 mm and 1.00 mm sheet and speed of delivery matters more than paperwork. And there is landscape and hospitality — hotel lakes, golf course ponds, district cooling make-up storage — where the liner has to be invisible and permanent.
As HDPE liner suppliers in Dubai, we quote all three, and the questions we ask differ in each case. What does not differ is the material: the same certified sheet, the same welding standard, the same test records.
Standard thicknesses in stock grades generally leave within a few working days of order confirmation. Textured, white-surfaced and non-standard widths are made to order and need longer.
Typical Dubai lining projects
Farm and irrigation reservoirs
Al Qudra, Margham, Saih Al Salam and the Lehbab belt. Usually 0.75–1.00 mm smooth black HDPE over a graded sand subgrade, with a 500 mm anchor trench around the crest.
Secondary containment bunds
Tank farms and chemical stores in Jebel Ali and DIP. Chemical compatibility and a documented seam test record are the whole job here — usually 1.5 mm or 2.0 mm sheet.
Construction water storage
Temporary ponds for dewatering, concrete batching and dust suppression. Often 0.5 mm sheet with a short design life, sometimes recovered and reused.
Landscape and hotel lakes
Decorative water bodies where the liner is hidden under sand, gravel or a concrete facing. Detailing around lights, pumps and fountain penetrations is the difficult part.
District cooling and utility ponds
Make-up water and TSE storage. Long design life, exposed sheet, so UV-stable material and 1.0 mm minimum.
Aquaculture tanks and ponds
Fish and shrimp farming inside industrial units and on open sites. Smooth liner, food-safe handling, easy to clean between cycles.
Getting a liner delivered in Dubai without delays
Confirm offloading before the truck leaves
The most common cause of a wasted delivery is a site with no telehandler. Rolls need lifting by the core with a stinger bar. Tell us what plant is available and we will match the roll length to it.
Check gate hours and permits
Free zone and industrial estate gates have delivery windows, and some sites need a vehicle permit raised a day ahead. Sending the site contact and gate details with the order avoids a truck idling outside JAFZA.
Plan around the heat, not just the calendar
Between roughly May and September, welding and deployment shift to early morning. Panels laid at midday and welded at dawn behave differently as the sheet expands and contracts. Programme accordingly and factor midday breaks into any summer installation schedule.
Order the geotextile at the same time
If your subgrade has gravel or a gypsum crust — common across the Dubai desert belt — a cushion geotextile under the liner is cheap insurance. Ordering it with the sheet means one delivery, not two.

How quickly can you deliver HDPE liner in Dubai?
For standard smooth black grades in common thicknesses, usually a few working days from confirmed order. Textured sheet, white-surfaced sheet and non-standard widths are produced to order and take longer. Tell us your programme date in the enquiry and we will confirm what is realistic before you commit.
Do you deliver to free zones like JAFZA and DIP?
Yes. Free zone deliveries need the gate details, a site contact number and sometimes a vehicle permit raised in advance. Send those with the order and the delivery is scheduled inside the gate's working window.
What thickness do most Dubai farm reservoirs use?
0.75 mm and 1.00 mm cover the large majority. 0.75 mm is the economical choice for reservoirs that will be kept full and are not walked on; 1.00 mm is the sensible upgrade where the liner is exposed for years, where the pond is drained and refilled often, or where the subgrade is coarse.
Can you line an existing pond that is already leaking?
Often, yes. If the existing liner is HDPE and still sound, it can be patched or overlaid. If it has become brittle, it is usually removed and replaced — welding new sheet to badly degraded liner does not produce a reliable seam. We will tell you which case you are in after seeing photographs.
